Banana Cake, Banana Bread, With oven, Without oven
Where are my cake lovers..this post is just for you and any other person who loves to have cake once in a while.
You don't have to wait for birthdays or weddings before you indulge in your craving for cakes.
Today's recipe is on Banana Cake or Banana bread, whichever you want to call it.
It is called banana bread when in the shape of a bread. This shape can be gotten through the use of a bread pan, a rectangle shape cake pan or a foil pack like the one used for Asun, however, a longer one.
So how is this yummy cake/bread baked.
Scroll down and see for yourself.
Ingredients
- 500g flour
- 500g butter or margarine
- 350g sugar
- 4 eggs
- Bananas (use as desired)
- 1teaspoon baking powder
- 1teaspoon soda
- 1teaspoon salt
- powdered or evaporated milk
- vanilla extract
Expenses(#)
- Flour - 150
- sugar- 150
- Butter- 450
- Eggs- 200
- Banana - 200(or less)
- Baking Soda- 200( you can use again for another baking)
- Baking Powder - 200
- Flavored powdered Milk - 100
- Vanilla Extract - 170
- Cake Pan Size 10 - 500
You can use any cakepan size of your choice
Pre-Preparation
- combine all dry ingredients together (flour, milk, baking soda, baking powder, salt)
- Mash bananas
- cream your pan well with butter
Directions
- Mix butter and Sugar thoroughly. You can mix clockwise or anti-clock wise.
If you have a mixer at home please don't hesitate to use it. This life is not hard and if you don't have, make use of our "omorogun" that has been serving us since 245BC. However, be ready for serious man power.
- Please ensure that the batter is creamy else you'll have a cake that's oily and not edible.
- Add eggs and mix
- Add the mashed bananas and mix
- Add the flour, little by little and mix. Pouring the flour once won't make it easy to mix.
- Add the raisins. They are also called cake dry fruits.
- After creaming the pan, dust with little flour.
- Scoop in the mixed cake batter into the pan. Do not fill to the top because the cake needs room to rise.
- Preheat oven before step 4 ( before adding the flour)
- once the oven is hot, place the pan in it.
- Leave to rise. The time frame is actually tricky because it all depends on how hot your oven is. The cake should bake for an hour, maximum 1hr30mins.
- To know if the cake is ready, insert a toothpick in it. If it comes out clean, cake is ready. If it comes out wet, cake is not ready.
Before you take it out of the pan, let it cool for 10mins in order to make the cake come out freely.
See how soft and moist it is. This tastes heavenly I tell you.
Please, do not bake in an overly hot oven, else, the cake will get burn without getting done. That taste is horrible, I tell you.

Are you thinking.." I don't have a oven". Don't fret. You're covered.
- Get a big pot that can contain your baking pan.
- Put in it a gas head( placed on 3kg, 5kg, 6kg cylinders) or stove head. This will make the baking pan stand well and high. It also prevent it from taking direct heat.
- Place your baking pan on the stove or gas head.
- Cover with the pot lid.
- Again, do not bake on high heat.
- Repeat the toothpick process to check if the cake is ready.
There you have it, your very own cake to enjoy whenever you want.
You wanna know a secret? This particular cake tastes better when it is refrigerated and eaten the next day.
Enjoy.
