Easy to make Spaghetti Bolognese
Spaghetti Bolognese is an Italian dish or an American dish. The jury is out on that one😂.
It consists of spaghetti served with a sauce made from tomatoes, minced beef, garlic, wine and herbs; sometimes minced beef can be replaced by other minced meats.
The sauce can be placed on top of the pasta, it can also be mixed together giving the spaghetti a jollof look which is the Italian way. The choice is left to whoever wants to eat it.
However, this recipe is forgoing the wine because we are all about simplifying food preparation. It is not expensive at all, with #1500, you can prepare this awesome dish.
So here goes:
Servings: 4 persons
Ingredients
- 1 Spaghetti/ Pasta
- Minced Meat( Not fatty meat)
- 2tablespoon vegetable oil
- Garlic
- Onions
- 1 Tomato paste
- Fresh Tomato
- Pepper (Ata rodo)
- Salt
- Maggi
- Thyme
Directions:
- Put Water on heat, add Salt.
- Add spaghetti immediately water is boiled.
You can break in Spaghetti or leave in hot water, it'll shrink in size. Ensure you add enough enough water to avoid stickiness. You can add a drop of oil to prevent stickiness too.
- Pour in a sieve once Pasta is soft and drain.
- Once drained, pour back in pot.
Your Pasta is ready.
Bolognese Sauce
Before you make the sauce;
* mince garlic
* slice onions
* blend pepper and tomatoes separately. Do not blend smooth.
* Chop your meat at the market or you use your blender (a very strong one to avoid damage) Meat with Fats can damage your blender.
Once that's done, you can start with the sauce👇
- Heat vegetable oil
- add in sliced onions and minced garlic, allow to fry.
- add in already washed and spiced minced meat.
Do not pour the meat into the oil, scoop it in because we don't want excess water in the sauce at all.
- fry the meat, it changes color from pink to brown and brings out juice. That's the only water needed in the sauce.
- add in the tomato paste, stir and fry for 2mins.
- add the blended fresh tomatoes first .
- add the blended pepper.
- add Maggi, salt to taste.
- cover and let it simmer for 10 -15 mins, your sauce is ready.
You should have a thick sauce and to get that, you need more minced meat and no water.
For a more flavorful taste, the Italians & Americans add Red or white wine to the sauce, so, if you feel up to it, you can add 2 capful of red wine.
You can also add Carrots to the sauce and for the Plantain lovers, plantain is a good side dish.
Hot steamy Spaghetti waiting for you to dig in😋 Don't dull.
